The Role: The Project Engineer will assist the Lead Engineer in a wide range of duties both in the office and in the field. Your role could consist of being on-site load testing one day, and in the office the next day performing design calculations and preparing estimates for a wide variety of projects, or meeting with clients to help understand and solve their geotechnical needs. GeoBuild operates nationwide as a fully-remote company. You will work out of your home office or in the field, depending on the tasks of the day. There are several different paths an engineer can take to advance their career at GeoBuild, including project management, design, estimating, operations management, or business development.
Our projects are often not “typical” so you will gain expertise on a wide variety of designs and construction. We are hiring future leaders and everything we do is about setting you up to be personally and professionally successful and fulfilled.
Responsibilities:
This position is a hybrid position with both office and field duties, as needed. The goal of this position is to gain experience in the field and develop a career path at GeoBuild. This position reports directly to GeoBuild’s Lead Engineer. Role responsibilities are as follows:
Primary Field Roles
•Provide on-site project management and engineering support to field staff as an integrated part of the construction team.
•Collaborate with field staff, project manager, and engineering staff to aid project handoff and implement designs, plans, recommendations, schedules, and deliverables.
•Document daily activities, as-built conditions, material quantities, construction progress, etc.
•Communicate both written and verbally with the field staff, PM, and project Lead Engineer regarding design, design changes, and effective processes in order to better support the project.
•Perform testing of soil nails, rock anchors, tiebacks and other installed components as required.
•Assist in as-built plan development
•Follow and promote GeoBuild’s culture of safety and accountability
Primary Office Roles
•Assist in development of innovative solutions to solve geotechnical challenges
•As assigned by Lead Engineer, assist Engineering and Estimating (including Means and Methods) during project development
•Assist development of designs, plans, and estimates of simple to moderately complex projects
•Attend conferences and technical seminars as required
•Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Civil Engineering Degree required
– Concentration in Geotechnical Engineering preferred
• Masters in Geotechnical Engineering preferred
• Ability to obtain P.E. within 3 years preferred
• 2-5 years of engineering experience
• Passion for what you do is required
